Highlands and Islands MSP Emma Roddick has welcomed the progress of the new Nairn Academy building, highlighting it as part of the Scottish Government’s wider commitment to investing in education across the Highlands. Ms Roddick’s visit to the construction site follows her previous work to ensure the project could go ahead, including pressing the Scottish Government for an update on the plans in Parliament.
The £61 million Nairn Academy project is being delivered through the Scottish Government’s Learning Estate Investment Programme (LEIP). The project is a clear example of the kind of investment the SNP is committed to delivering across the entirety of the Highlands and Islands. Ms Roddick’s visit served as an opportunity to reinforce the importance of providing high-quality educational facilities in both rural and island communities throughout her constituency.
Ms Roddick said:
“It was great to see the work underway on the new Nairn Academy. This is a significant project for the area, and it is a clear example of the Scottish Government’s commitment to investing in our young people’s future across the Highlands and Islands.
“I have been closely following this project and am glad to see real progress being made. It is crucial that every community has access to the best possible educational facilities. This project shows that the SNP is delivering on its promise to invest in our region and ensure that no community is left behind.”
