Emma Roddick MSP praises vital work of Archie Foundation and Rairgmore Hospital staff

Emma Roddick MSP has praised the work of staff and volunteers at the Archie Foundation and the Highland Children’s Unit at Raigmore Hospital following a visit to the sites in Inverness.

The Highlands and Islands MSP visited the Archie Foundation at the Birnie Centre, followed by a visit to the Children’s Unit to meet with staff and discuss their work, including mental health support and other priorities for young people. Ms Roddick highlighted the invaluable contribution that the Archie Foundation makes to families in the region, particularly those dealing with illness and bereavement.

The MSP committed to following up on the issues raised during her visit to Parliament, reinforcing her commitment to supporting local health services and the young people who rely on them.

Commenting on the visit, the SNP MSP said:

“It was great to catch up with Neil at the Archie Foundation to learn more about the incredible support they provide to families during some of their toughest times. Their work behind the scenes is vital for people across our communities, and it’s right that we recognise that.

“The passion that the team at the Highland Children’s Unit has for supporting the children and young people in their care is truly heartwarming, and I loved to see how closely the charity and NHS worked together.  I am committed to taking the insights I gained from this visit to Parliament and ensuring that the issues raised are heard.

“It was also an important opportunity to see how the Scottish Government’s record investment in our NHS is making a difference on the ground. I am determined to ensure that funding for vital services, like our national CAMHS strategy, reaches services here in the Highlands and Islands, and I will continue to work to deliver for our local communities.”
