Emma Roddick MSP met with Safe, Strong & Free to learn about their workshops teaching children across the Highlands about safety, consent, and online awareness.
Emma met with Safe, Strong & Free to hear about the work they do to prevent sexual assault and the exploitation of children across the Highlands.
Safe, Strong & Free visits schools, carrying out workshops to teach children about serious issues in a fun way. They speak to children about a variety of topics including respect, bullying, consent, online safety, and the importance of confiding in adults they trust.
Speaking on the workshops, Emma said:
“The workshops Safe, Strong & Free runs for children are really important, teaching children about real issues in society affecting them, but in a light-hearted and engaging way.
“With the growth of social media and the development of AI technologies, children face new challenges with staying safe online as well as offline.
“These workshops empower children and give them the confidence to speak out to someone they trust when they feel as though something is not right, and for them to understand that their body is theirs.
“It was great to hear from the team how successful these workshops have been in schools across the Highlands and the difference they have made to some children’s lives and the prevention of abuse.”
