Roddick MSP celebrates 25 years of Inverness charity’s vital work

Highlands and Islands MSP Emma Roddick has praised the incredible work of Headway Highland after attending a special 25th-anniversary celebration. Ms Roddick, who lives locally, joined attendees and staff at a summer barbecue held at New Start Gardens in Dalneigh to mark the milestone. The event also coincided with one of the charity’s regular Monday gatherings for people with acquired brain injury.

The MSP spent time speaking with attendees, listening to stories about the immense impact of the charity and the challenges faced by people living with an acquired brain injury and their carers. Ms Roddick noted that she had previously met some of the attendees through her work in the local community.

Emma Roddick said:

“It was such an honour to celebrate Headway Highland’s 25th anniversary and to meet so many of the people who make this charity a lifeline, also seeing some familiar faces from working with housing associations and visiting other health-related organisations. Being able to come to an event like this and to see familiar faces from around the community, just reinforces what a vital role the charity plays. Its workers don’t just provide support; they create a true sense of community for people across the Highlands and make sure anyone can take part in social events and employment.

“It was moving to hear from attendees about the difference the charity has made in their lives, offering a safe space and a helping hand during some of their most difficult times.

“The work the charity does is clearly vital, and I am so proud to represent a community that is home to such caring and compassionate organisations. It’s a privilege to support the team members at Headway Highland as they continue their incredible work.”
