Roddick welcomes funding boost; praises Inverness Rowing Club’s inclusive spirit

Highlands and Islands MSP Emma Roddick has championed Inverness Rowing Club after experiencing the Caledonian Canal from a unique perspective during a recent visit. Ms Roddick celebrated the club’s successful bid for Sportscotland funding and their strong commitment to ensuring accessibility for all members of the community by joining members in the canal.
During her visit, Ms Roddick took to the water with club members, gaining first-hand insight into the sport and the club’s operations. The MSP expressed her delight at the club’s recent funding success, which will further enable them to support individuals across Inverness in experiencing rowing.
Ms Roddick said:
“It was fantastic to see the Caledonian Canal from a completely different viewpoint, out on the water with the dedicated members of Inverness Rowing Club. I know how vital community sports clubs are to the health and wellbeing of our region, and it’s truly inspiring to see the passion and hard work that goes into making rowing accessible for everyone here in Inverness.
“I am particularly delighted to hear about the club’s success in securing Sportscotland funding, which was completely deserved.
“What truly stands out is the club’s commitment to inclusion, actively working to ensure disabled people and young folk from deprived communities have the opportunity to participate.  We need to see more of that commitment in our local sports, and I will continue to do everything I can to support Inverness Rowing Club’s work in bringing the joy of rowing to more people across our community.”
