Emma Roddick joins local beach clean-up with Green Hive in Nairn

Highlands and Islands MSP Emma Roddick joined local volunteers on the beach in Nairn this week for a community litter pick organised by social enterprise Green Hive.

The beach clean-up, which took place on Friday 4th July, brought together residents, families, and volunteers to tackle litter in the town centre and along the shoreline ahead of the Nairn Triathalon this weekend, supporting local environmental action and pride in our shared spaces.

Emma Roddick, who regularly supports community initiatives locally, took part in the clean-up alongside Green Hive staff and volunteers before chatting with local residents about the group’s ongoing work.

Speaking after the event, Emma Roddick MSP said:

“It was great to be out on the beach with Green Hive and local folk doing their bit to keep Nairn looking its best. Their passion for protecting our environment and strengthening community ties is clear in everything they do.

“These kinds of grassroots efforts are a big part of what makes our communities strong, and it’s brilliant to see people of all ages taking part. I always enjoy working alongside groups like Green Hive; they know what’s needed here, and they get things done.”

The SNP MSP thanked the organisers and local volunteers for their continued work and reaffirmed her support for community-led environmental projects across the Highlands.
