Emma Roddick MSP calls for stronger regulation of AI to ensure worker safety and fairness in the evolving digital workplace.
Emma Roddick MSP has highlighted the need to introduce regulations to keep workers safe in the workplace.
The SNP MSP highlighted the fact that in the Highlands and Islands, more people work remotely, which means the online world is their office.
Given the recent rise in the use of AI in our daily lives, including at work, Emma believes policymakers must recognise the dangers it poses.
Commenting, Ms Roddick said:
“We know that many constituents across the Highlands and Islands, including some of my own employees, work remotely, and are actively encouraged to make use of new technologies to continue working smarter.
“Given the rise in the use of AI in our daily lives, we are seeing it being used more and more in the workplace, but we still haven’t taken necessary action to mitigate its risks and dangers.
“AI is here to stay, and we must act now to ensure we can keep folk safe online; all workers deserve a safe working environment.”
