WE STILL HAVE A CHANCE TO BUILD A BETTER SCOTLAND, SAYS EMMA RODDICK MSP

We still have a chance to build a better Scotland ten years on from the 2014 Scottish Independence referendum, an SNP MSP has said.

Speaking in the Parliament on the 10th anniversary of the vote last week, Emma Roddick urged independence supporters not to lose hope and to continue pushing for an independent Scotland.

Commenting a decade later, Emma said:

“Ten years ago on the 18th September, I missed a day of school to get in some final work for the Yes campaign, encouraging folk to get out and vote before taking part in the count as a member of Generation Yes.

“Ten years on, it is clear now, maybe even more so, that we need the full powers of independence in order to create the Scotland we want. Many of the things the No campaign said would happen to Scotland if we voted for independence have happened anyway due to decisions made in Westminster – Brexit, inflated food prices, higher energy prices – to name a few.

“I believe we still have a strong independence movement and that the SNP is going to be the party that delivers independence, but, in order to do this, we must motivate people by hope and through the belief that Scotland will be a better, fairer, and more prosperous country with the full powers of independence.”
