Emma Roddick MSP has praised organisations in Shetland for coming together to support folk in the community amidst the ongoing cost of living crisis.

Emma met with Mind Your Head and the Compass Centre last week [14th of August] to discuss what they were doing to support folk who are struggling during these increasingly challenging times.

Both commended fellow organisations in Shetland as well as members of the community for rallying together to provide extra support for those who need it, including putting on local events.

Commenting after, Emma said:

“Things are really difficult for folk at the moment, and I know that this can often lead to people feeling isolated and not knowing who to turn to for help.

“That is why it was so heartening to hear from both Mind Your Head and the Compass Centre that folk are really making an effort to come together and going out their way to support those who are struggling.

“I have always admired the way folk in Shetland work together and believe the rest of Scotland could learn a thing or two from communities here.

“For anyone out there struggling at the minute, please don’t feel ashamed to reach out for help. There are so many amazing people working in organisations across Shetland, and my team and I also stand ready to support those who may need it.”
