The Mareel in Lerwick, where Emma Roddick MSP will join locals to commemorate International Workers’ Memorial Day. The building will be lit purple in the evening to honour lives lost at work.
I will be joining Joyce Davies and members of the local community this Sunday to commemorate International Worker’s Memorial Day in Lerwick.
We will gather at the Mareel at 13:30. All are welcome to come down to reflect, speak with others, and share their stories.
On Sunday evening, Shetland Arts will be lighting up the Mareel in purple to honour the lives of those that were lost at work. Again, folk are welcome to come and pay their respects at 20:30.
Everyone has the right to go to work, be safe, and then come home at the end of the day. Please join us on Sunday to remember those who have died at work on the islands, and to continue to stand up for better health and safety regulations in the workplace.
