EMMA RODDICK BPA A’ CUR FÀILTE AIR MAOINEACHADH BHO RIAGHALTAS NA H-ALBA A THA “GLÈ CUDROMACH” AIRSON CÀNAN IS CULTAR NA GÀIDHLIG ANNS NA GÀIDHEALTACHD IS NAN EILEAN

Tha Emma air a ràdh gum bith maoineachadh ùr bho Riaghaltas Na h-Alba airson buidhean leasachaidh na Gàidhlig, Bòrd na Gàidhlig, “glè cudromach” airson cànan is cultar na Gàidhlig anns an sgìre.

Bidh a’ chiad mhaoineachadh de £175,000 a’ daingneachadh obraichean 27 oifigear coimhearsnachd a bhios, tro phròiseactan ionadail, a’ brosnachadh na Gàidhlig.

Tha a’ bhuidheann cuideachd ag obair air plana airson obrachadh san àm ri teachd gus an urrainn do Riaghaltas na h-Alba beachdachadh air maoineachadh san àm ri teachd.

A’ bruidhinn air an naidheachd, thuirt Emma:

“Tha an obair ionadail a tha Bòrd na Gàidhlig a’ dèanamh air a’ Ghàidhealtachd agus na h-Eileanan deatamach airson cànan is cultar na Gàidhlig a chumail suas ann an Alba.

“Tha dealas aig Riaghaltas na h-Alba SNP dèanamh cinnteach gun lean seo, agus tha mi an dòchas gum bi am maoineachadh susbainteach seo bho Riaghaltas na h-Alba cruth-atharrachail ann a bhith a’ coileanadh seo.

“Le bhith a’ cumail nan seirbheisean sin, tha Riaghaltas na h-Alba ag obair gus a’ Ghàidhlig a dhèanamh tèarainte san àm ri teachd agus, ann an co-bhonn ri Bile Chànanan na h-Alba, a’ dìon pàirt riatanach de fhreumhan agus dearbh-aithne na h-Alba.”

EMMA RODDICK MSP WELCOMES SCOTTISH GOVERNMENT FUNDING THAT WILL BE “TRANSFORMATIVE” FOR GAELIC LANGUAGE AND CULTURE IN THE HIGHLANDS & ISLANDS

Emma has said that new Scottish Government funding for Gaelic development agency Bòrd na Gàidhlig will be “transformative” for Gaelic language and culture in the region, by ensuring it remains integral to Scottish culture.

The initial funding of £175,000 will secure the jobs of 27 community officers who, through local projects, promote Gaelic. The agency is also working on a plan for its future operation so that the Scottish Government can consider future funding.

Commenting on the announcement, Emma said:

“The local work carried out by Bòrd na Gàidhlig in the Highlands & Islands is crucial to sustaining Gaelic language language and culture in Scotland.

“The SNP Government is committed to ensuring this continues, and I hope that this substantial funding from the Scottish Government will be transformative in achieving this.

“By maintaining these services, the Scottish Government is working to secure the future of Gaelic and, in conjunction with the Scottish Languages Bill, is protecting an integral part of Scotland’s roots and identity.”
