Emma Roddick MSP attended the Highland Heroes Awards to support Michael O’Neill, winner of Volunteer of the Year, and celebrate Merkinch Primary School’s School of the Year award.
It was a pleasure to attend Highland News & Media Heroes Awards on Saturday, to support Michael O’Neill, who was nominated in two categories.
I met Michael when I joined him on an Emergency Community Rescue shift one evening to learn more about the incredible work he does with his team, supporting people in emergencies. I then chose him as my Local Hero at the official Opening of the Scottish Parliament. His win for Volunteer of the Year was so deserved – he cannot do enough for others.
I was also super chuffed to see Official Merkinch Primary School take School of the Year – again, so deserved, as I know the work that staff put in to make the school so incredible, and hear from parents and pupils how proud they are to be Marvellous Merkinchers. I live just nearby so get to see so many happy bairns enjoying their time learning. #Heroes2024
