HIGHLAND PARASPORT FESTIVAL

I had a brilliant time at the beginning of this month at the Highland Parasport Festival in Grantown-On-Spey, organised by Scottish Disability Sport.

It was wonderful to see all the kids getting involved and trying out some new sports. We know that sport is so important for physical and mental health, but also to address social isolation and loneliness – something that is more difficult for people in rural areas.

I played some boccia and a very competitive game of wheelchair basketball – my team lost, but I am very keen to try again!

This was such a fantastic event and creating opportunities for all, including young, disabled people in rural areas, is so important.
