Highlands & Islands MSP celebrates the work of Employability Orkney

As part of her busy recess schedule, Highlands & Islands MSP Emma Roddick has visited Employability Orkney, a charity supporting those with barriers to gaining employment in the islands through a range of sustainable supported employment, training, and volunteering opportunities.

Commenting on her visit, Ms Roddick said:

“It was fantastic to see first-hand all the incredible work going on at Employability Orkney and all the different opportunities service users have to gain skills and experience and really build up their confidence in the workplace.

“Their second-hand shop is brilliant and I was so grateful to the staff and board members for showing me around the many treasures that can be found. I particularly loved the upcycled garden benches that had been made from old bed frames.

“The team clearly feel rewarded when they see those they advocate for thrive in the workplace, and I hope more and more employers start to realise that flexible approaches make going to work easier and more enjoyable for everyone.”
