Highlands & Islands MSP praises local social enterprise’s efforts to cut out plastic waste

Highlands & Islands MSP Emma Roddick has recently visited Nairn’s new zero-waste refill shop, the Highland Weigh. The Highlands-based social enterprise, which opened its shop in late November last year, offers a range of sustainable foods and household products.

Commenting, Emma Roddick said:

“It is really fantastic to see a zero-waste approach being offered in Nairn, and it is particularly great to see that Highland Weigh has reduced product prices as much as possible, meaning folk aren’t torn between affordability and being good to the environment.

“I was grateful to Amanda, the Managing Director, who took me around the shop and showed me all the clever products they sell. It makes reducing your carbon footprint really easy.

“The shop offers a lovely atmosphere as well as some great food and coffee. I encourage anyone in the area to pop in for a visit and see how they can alter their shopping habits to be kinder to our planet.”
