A formal response to questioning by local SNP MSP Emma Roddick on Nairn Bypass works has been provided by Minister for Transport Jenny Gilruth.
The Highlands and Islands MSP recently requested the Minister set out a formal update in writing, following concern from locals that the project was in doubt.
Emma Roddick said:
“It is reassuring to have this formal written answer from the Minister for Transport confirming that the Nairn Bypass remains a key commitment of the Scottish Government and will go ahead.
“While moves towards active travel and public transport are needed and welcome, I will continue to remind the Scottish Government that the context of roads provision in the Highlands is very different.
“The bypass is not only a matter of safety but also a project that is absolutely required to future-proof Nairnshire as its population and activity grows.”
