Roddick: Freeport plans may affect other ports; must remain under scrutiny

Speaking in the Scottish Parliament, SNP MSP Emma Roddick highlighted the concerns of Scottish ports not in the running to become ‘green freeports’ under joint Scottish-UK Government plans and insisted on the importance of continuing to scrutinise the plans going forward.

Commenting, Roddick said:

“It is crucial that none of our ports are forgotten as the plans for green freeports are rolled out. It is my hope and my priority that ports that are not designated as freeports will not be put in a position of relative disadvantage.

“I am aware there is deep concern in the region around the designation of these ports, and I will continue to scrutinise how they are being implemented.”
