Roddick fights for inclusion of ferry fares in free bus travel scheme

SNP MSP for the Highlands & Islands, Emma Roddick, has said she will continue to push for The Scottish Government to include inter-islands ferry fares in the new free bus travel scheme for under-22s. Roddick is clear in her view that young people should not be disadvantaged in accessing education and work opportunities as a result of the scheme.

Roddick writes that, “there are a lot of misconceptions around how vital ferry services are for many, especially in the outer islands…my position that, for some young people, ferries are the equivalent of buses on mainland Scotland, remains the same.”
