Highlands and Islands MSP calls for more support for Patient Transport Service

On Wednesday 15th December, 2021, SNP MSP Emma Roddick voiced her support for the Scottish Ambulance Service’s Patient Transport Service and urged the Scottish Government to do more to foster their work helping patients with mobility needs in rural areas.

Commenting, Roddick said:

“The Patient Transport Service has done fantastic work in recent years supporting those across Scotland who may need help travelling to medical appointments. In the Highlands and Islands, their assistance is particularly invaluable in rural areas with limited public transport links.

“We can and should do so much more to support them and their work transporting patients using alternative vehicles such as SUVs. This frees ambulances up to be used for those who need them, providing an invaluable service to our rural communities across the Highlands and Islands.”
