WATCH: “Scotland needs no lessons from the Tories on the environment” says Roddick

Highlands and Islands MSP Emma Roddick has challenged the Tories in Parliament, contrasting their party’s approach with the Scottish Government’s record on protecting Scotland’s natural environment and fostering sustainability; noting that Scotland was one of the first nations in the world to formally declare a climate emergency.

Roddick said:

“Scotland more than carries its weight in environmental protection and the fight against climate change. We undertake around 80% of tree planting in the UK and produce around 25% of the renewable energy produced in the UK.

“Scotland needs no instruction on environmental policy from a UK Government which was happy to let raw sewage to be dumped into rivers until it became clear this was unlikely to sell well with swing voters.”
