Emma Roddick MSP highlights the importance of accessible transport for young islanders as free inter-island ferry travel for under 22s is secured.
Emma Roddick MSP has called out the UK Government’s deal with the European Union as a “horror show” and “betrayal” of Scotland’s fishermen, referencing an intervention from Scottish Fishermen’s Federation in the Scottish Parliament today.
In a question to the Cabinet Secretary for the Constitution, the Highlands and Islands representative said:
“The Scottish Fishermen’s Federation has described this deal as “a horror show,” “far worse than Boris Johnson’s botched Brexit deal” and “total indifference of the British political establishment to the interests of our fishing sector”. Labour’s latest betrayal will be raw for many in our fishing and coastal communities, and it sends them a message that they do not matter.”
She went on to question the Cabinet Secretary – “What is the SNP’s message to them?”
The Cabinet Secretary criticised the UK Government for acting against the interests of Scotland’s fisheries sector, and without including the Scottish Government in conversations.
