Emma Roddick MSP welcomes over £26 million for active travel projects including Raigmore Interchange

Emma Roddick MSP has welcomed news that the SNP Government is investing over £26 million in active travel infrastructure across the country, with Inverness set to benefit from a new route at the Raigmore Interchange.

The funding, announced by Cabinet Secretary for Transport, Fiona Hyslop, supports construction ready projects through Tier 2 of the Active Travel Infrastructure Fund. It will make it easier and safer for people across Inverness to walk, wheel and cycle for everyday journeys.

Other projects supported by the programme include the Culbokie Active Travel Village and Wick Street Design, and altogether the announcement represents a record £188 million in active and sustainable travel in 2025-26, as part of the government’s long term commitment to achieving net zero and supporting healthier lifestyles.

Commenting, Emma Roddick said:

“This funding for the Raigmore Interchange is fantastic news for Inverness, and the investment from the SNP in active travel routes will benefit people across the Highlands.

“I know myself from my past Deliverooing food from the Retail Park into homes across the city that this new active travel route is very necessary, and all improvements are welcome.  This will mean a safe, accessible and sustainable way to travel; whether it’s for getting to work, heading to school, or simply enjoying the outdoors.

“This investment reflects the SNP’s commitments to tackling the climate crisis, supporting public health, and making our towns and villages more connected and liveable.

“We know that when infrastructure is in place, more people choose to leave their car at home. That’s good for our environment, our communities and our economy.”
