SNP MSP celebrates volunteers at tool library

Emma Roddick MSP has welcomed the continued efforts of volunteers at Inverness Tool Library, an organisation based in the Carse which provides the opportunity for locals to borrow tools for household projects.

The library has been running for two years with the support of Circus Artspace, in what was previously a furniture shop next to the Poundstretcher in Telford Retail Park, but now houses various local artists.

The SNP MSP attended the open day to speak as a long-time supporter of the project and to hand out certificates to volunteers who keep the project running.

Emma Roddick said:

“It’s been a couple of years now since I welcomed the opening of Inverness Tool Library, and I’m so glad that it’s still going strong.

“Hearing about how many women and young families make use of it is excellent – this really creates a community feel and gives people the tools, figuratively and literally, to live more independent, sustainable lives.

“It was great to be able to join in recognising the efforts of volunteers, and to hear from them what their vision is moving forward to expand and make the library even more accessible.

“This is just one of many examples of how Circus Artspace is making it easier for creative, hardworking people to find the space they need to provide artwork and useful community enterprises.”
