Emma Roddick MSP celebrates 10 years of Shetland Reel Gin, recognising the brand’s contribution to Shetland’s local economy and global reputation.
MSP for the Highlands and Islands Emma Roddick has celebrated 10 years of Shetland Reel Gin by lodging a motion in her name in the Scottish Parliament.
The first Shetland Reel Gin was produced on 31st October 2014 in the Saxa Vord Distillery in Unst, the most northerly distillery in the United Kingdom. Originally only available in Scotland, Shetland Reel Gin is now enjoyed by people across the world.
Commenting, Emma said: “I am delighted to lodge a motion in my name in the Scottish Parliament celebrating 10 years of Shetland Reel Gin.
“It was great to pop into the distillery a few weeks ago in Unst to meet Mark Turnball, Manager and Distiller of Saxa Vord Distillery, to see for myself the realities of the gin-making process in a small distillery.
“I always love to hear about businesses in the region doing well for themselves, so it’s fantastic to see such a successful local business thriving in its 10th year, and I want to congratulate the team on all they’ve achieved in the last decade.”
