ASSYNT CROFTER’S TRUST

First stop on Tuesday’s Summer Recess adventure schedule was Assynt Hydro Ltd. with the Assynt Crofter’s Trust and Councillor Marianne Hutchison.

It was amazing hearing about how the project came together through one man – John MacKenzie’s – passion and belief in it, to it now providing a steady source of income for the Trust, which can then continue valuable community work.

I saw how the scheme works and is looked after, and hope it continues to provide income for the crofters for some time.

Along the jetty, I heard about the Assynt Crofters’ vision for revamping the site and opening up space for leisure and fishing boats to come in.

Can’t wait to see what this ambitious team gets done next!
