MSP for the Highlands & Islands Emma Roddick has been appointed to the Rural Affairs and Islands Committee at the Scottish Parliament.
The Committee focuses on areas including rural land use, forestry, farming and crofting, food and drink supply chain, animal welfare and wildlife crime, and fisheries and aquaculture, and will scrutinise the Parliament’s work on the above issues.
Emma attended her first committee meeting yesterday [Wednesday 15th of May] where the Agriculture and Rural Communities (Scotland) Bill was discussed.
Commenting on her appointment, Emma said:
“I am really excited to be joining the Rural Affairs and Islands Committee, a committee that scrutinises the work of Parliament on a variety of issues that are so relevant to my region, the Highlands & Islands.
“I am looking forward to working with colleagues across all parties to ensure we get the best policy for our rural and island communities so that they have the resources they need to continue to grow and thrive.
“I will continue to be a voice for folk across the Highlands & Islands during my time on the committee, making sure that folk in rural and island areas are heard.”
