SNP MSP Emma Roddick this week met with Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE) in Shetland.
Ms Roddick sat down with HIE area manager for Shetland, Katrina Wiseman, to discuss how the development agency is working to support businesses and communities in Shetland and attract investment in the region.
Commenting on her visit, Ms Roddick said:
“I had a great chat with Katrina at HIE about the vibrant local economy in Shetland and all that the team are doing to support businesses and communities on the island to flourish. Shetland has so much to offer, particularly in energy, space, and the marine sector, and I am keen to make sure that the Scottish Government is supporting the housing and transport improvements needed as a result.
“The ‘place-based’ approach that HIE takes to supporting businesses, social enterprises and community groups in Shetland is crucial in ensuring that each unique community is empowered in a way which allows them to fully develop and continue to grow.
“I look forward to continuing to work with the folks at HIE, supporting Shetland’s local economy and the people who live here to be the best they can be.”
