Highlands and Islands MSP Emma Roddick has welcomed renewed talks over HIAL’s proposed remote tower.
Following strike action and pressure from Roddick, HIAL are engaging in talks with Prospect over a possible alternate method of delivery.
Speaking on the move, Roddick said:
“I am happy to see further talks regarding the planned modernisation of HIAL airports.
“The initial plan threatened significant jobs in the islands and I welcome further discussion on the matter.
“It is vital that we empower people to stay in their local areas, it is not fair to them or their families to take their livelihoods away in the name of modernisation.”
This comment comes after Emma raised the issue of the loss of highly-skilled jobs from island communities during First Minister’s Questions on the 9th of September.
